Our team headed to Pasir Ris on a Monday morning to work at a tuition centre located in the heart-lands. This place is located just three bus stops away from Pasir Ris MRT station. When we reached, we almost missed the entrance as we did not expect it to be an underground bomb shelter! For users coming to try to space, do lookout for a signboard to the left of the block.

Facilities

Despite it being a bomb shelter, it was more spacious than we had imagined! It was our team’s first time seeing an underground bomb shelter, as most are on ground level instead of down in the basement. There are two classrooms, one with a capacity of up to 30 people and the other for 10. Both classrooms have plenty of tables and chairs available, as well as ample charging sockets for our usage.

Do note that reception is unavailable because it is underground, but WiFi is provided and the connection is very stable. This place is very good for having a large number of people for team discussions or even to hold talks and events here! Whiteboard and markers are also provided in case you need to use them. This place is good for those who live in Pasir Ris and would prefer working near their houses instead of travelling down to town.

Places Nearby

This tuition centre is located near Pasir Ris East Community Club where there are three different food centres just a five-minute walk away. Alternatively, it is two bus stops away from Downtown East and three bus stops from Whitesands shopping mall. You can find various food options from affordable food centres to cafes and restaurants to meet your needs at every price point.

Ever heard of Flock. Cowork hub? Our team went over to try out this new co-working space in Woodlands. Can you believe that this beautiful place is located in an industrial building? Don’t judge a building by its exterior, you never know what gem you may find inside!

Facilities @ Flock

When we entered the space, we captivated by its aesthetics and cleanliness. There are some common areas, with comfortable sofa chairs to sit on and relax!

There are also high chairs and tables over at the pantry area, with free flow tea and coffee. Water cooler and snacks are also provided by the friendly space provider.

Other than basic amenities such as free Wi-Fi, power sockets and air conditioning, here are some additional services provided:

• Printing and photocopying

• Lockers

• Mini Fridge

• Showering facilities

• Built-in toilet

The place is generally quiet, making it conducive for studying, working and conducting meetings and discussions. You have a choice of using the desks in the open area or you could use one of the hot desks in the private room!

Adding on to the already beautiful decor, there are a pair of swings near the windows for users to admire the view and relax!

One drawback of this coworking space is that the location can be deemed inconvenient by some, with it being in an industrial building in Woodlands. However, it is still rather accessible as it is only two bus stops away from Admiralty MRT station.

Places near Flock

The building is surrounded by other industrial buildings as well as HDB estates. However, its food court presents a plethora of food choices for all its visitors! There are options such as mookata, pasta, Korean food, ramen and more!

Additionally, users can head over to Admiralty MRT to have nasi lemak or chicken rice. Causeway Point is rather nearby too!

At the foot of the building lies a childcare centre. Parents who need time to work but are worried about their children could drop their kids downstairs and head up to the coworking space to work as well!

Coworking & Space Sharing

Coworking is indeed a huge part of space sharing. However, there are more spaces that can be shared too. Take a look around you and let us know what else can be shared?

Our team headed down to ProAge @ Aljunied Industrial Complex to experience working in the same office as a traditional business. We were excited as this was a completely new experience for us! Even though the office was located in an industrial building, it was a cozy space to work in.

Upon reaching the office, Clarice, the friendly person-in-charge, gave us a small tour of the area. She even invited us to get lunch together with her teammates. Their hospitality added on to our wonderful experience working there!

Facilities @ ProAge

ProAge’s office houses a pantry, with snacks and water available. You would not have to worry about running out of water and food. There is also a fridge in the pantry, which is sometimes used to store delicious pastries that they would be happy share!

We were able to utilise two different parts of the office – a meeting room and two dedicated desks. The table in the meeting room can fit up to six people, so it was very spacious for us as we only had three people! There is also a whiteboard at the corner, which comes in especially useful during discussions.

As for the dedicated desks, there is sufficient space for us to place out laptops and some documents on the side! Power sockets are also readily available at the office, in case your devices run out of juice. Free Wifi and air conditioning are also available in the office.

Another plus side of this location is that the toilet is just nearby! You would not have to worry about skipping toilet breaks because of the cleanliness, or lack thereof, of the toilet as it is squeaky clean!

I would say that the biggest plus point of sharing an office space with ProAge is their amicable hospitality. They are very friendly and helpful people, who are willing to share their insights and experience in work and life.

A downside of the office is its location. As it is situated in an industrial area, it is not as convenient to get there. The food options are relatively little compared to the other offices and coworking spaces we have been. Additionally, since we are working alongside another company, it is bound to get a little noisy when they engage in discussions. Nevertheless, there is no difference from working with your colleagues in open office layout, and we had a conducive time over there!

Places Nearby

There are a few places for food nearby, including a hawker centre at the basement of a building across the road. There are several types of food available – Ban Mian, Chicken Rice, Indian Cuisine, etc. It was delicious yet affordable!

ProAge & Bizcnd

Bizcnd would like to thank ProAge for being so receptive to our concept as well as being so welcoming during our visit. It is possible for companies to share out their office space – even more so during their office hours if they are afraid of the safety and confidentiality of their documents since there are employees present. We hope to see more companies opening up to our platform!

For this week’s tour of an unconventional space, our team headed down to Level Up, a bar situated in the heart of Clarke Quay. Level Up has also collaborated with The Carrot Patch, to function as a coworking space before turning back into a bar at 5pm.

Some of you may know of this place or have been here for drinks with your friends. Even if you have not, you must have at least seen people posing with the famous “吃喝玩乐” (eat, drink, play, have fun) sign on Instagram!

The place was not difficult to locate, all it took was a five-minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT. Do pack your shades or an umbrella because you will be exposed to the elements on your way there.

Facilities

Level Up is located on the second floor, and as we were making our way up, there was an unmistakable smell of smoke, probably due to the poor ventilation of the stairwells. Don’t be too alarmed however, for the inside of Level Up does not reek at all. We were also surprised that there were very few people there when we entered – hurray for more privacy!

Level Up also provides water, free coffee and tea. The entire place features plenty of wall art with different cartoons, giving off a fun and creative vibe. You will also spot a pool table and many other arcade machines that you can play with upon request. We had a fun time, and we are sure that you would have one too!

There was a staff from The Carrot Patch there to assist us on top of Level Up’s own staff and all of them made us feel at home. One downside would be the type of seats available – because it’s a bar, they mainly have high tables and stools, which can be inconvenient to get on and off and be uncomfortable if you’ll be sitting for a long period of time. If you were to find it uncomfortable, sofa seats are also available. While the sofas are nice and plushy, the tables are a little low to provide for a conducive desk.

Places Nearby

We had no trouble looking for food when lunch came as we were surrounded by a plethora of food options. There are many cafes and bistros surrounding Level Up, so you do not have to walk in the sun or rain to Clarke Quay Central if you don’t want to.

If you would like to eat at Clarke Quay Central, there are plenty of Japanese restaurants like the famous Marutama ramen (aka basketball ramen), affordable fast food options and seafood restaurants too. You can even grab a dessert there – be it Hokkaido ice cream, cheesecake or bubble tea, they have got you covered.

Across the road from Clarke Quay Central, you will be able to find the famous Song Fa Bak Kut Teh amongst many other local delicacies. There are also diners like Brewerkz and Harry’s available at Riverside Point nearby too!

The Carrot Patch x Bizcnd

We really enjoyed this space tour with The Carrot Patch. Thank you for allowing us to try out the space and engaging in the same vision of reducing unused space from existing space owners. If you have similar under-ultilised spaces, why not share them on Bizcnd?

We had fun with the arcade games, and also had a productive time working at the space. It was both quiet and exciting! We encourage all users to try out their spaces and blend in some fun with work or studying! It can be pretty convenient too, as you can go for TGIF right after studying or working here 😉

After our pleasant first experience at CoWerkz’s King George location, we have decided to try out their coworking space at Geylang.

At first, we thought that this space would be very inconvenient. To our surprise, it is just two bus stops away from Kallang MRT station! There are more than 10 buses you can take to reach the space.

Facilities in CoWerkz @ Geylang

CoWerkz @ Geylang houses several private offices and discussion rooms, offering a quiet and clean environment for all its guests. This space is especially favourable for studying and working! The current tenants could definitely vouch for that.

The hallways are decorated with contemporary art, with several intriguing paintings and artworks on the clean white walls. They would certainly be of help to those who require some creative inspiration.

There are several common areas, where guests could chill and chat at. Board games are also available in some of the rooms if studying or working ever gets boring!

There are several facilities available at the coworking space, including free WiFi, power sockets and air conditioning. The pantry is also equipped with a water cooler, oven and fridge!

Bonus! CoWerkz @ Geyland has a swirling staircase leading up to the second level. This aesthetic-looking black staircase is suitable for all OOTD shots 😉

To facilitate your experience, we would like to inform you that odd numbered units and even numbered units are located on separate blocks. Make sure you are at the odd-numbered side! Do keep a lookout for a cube protruding from the building on the second level to better locate the unit.

Places near CoWerkz @ Geylang

There is a lot of good and renowned local food near the coworking space. From frog porridge to beef kway teow and dim sum, you would be spoilt for choice for lunch!

A 7-11 store is right opposite the building. There is a minimart and a Sheng Shiong store nearby as well. This makes it super convenient if you need to get some last minute supplies or fast food!
